CE Certification

CE – Mark Certification awarded to Island Spirit 401

The CE – Marking Directive (93/68/EEC) was adopted on 07/22/1993. This certification is based on the ISO ( International Organization for Standardization ) standards, which cover the entire vessel and it's systems. This includes the boat's Design Category, hull identification ( HIN Code ), information on the builders plate and an owners manual.

Other requirements include stability and buoyancy, integrity and structural requirements, cockpit drainage, visibility from the helm, handling characteristics, fuel and electrical systems and safety systems. Onboard equipment such as engines, pumps, tanks, hoses, hatches, portlights, navigation lights, rigging etc. must also be CE – Mark certified.

The Island Spirit from the Fortuna Catamaran yard in Cape Town has been awarded the CE – Mark. This was the result of months of work to bring all the systems up to official EU requirements. The Island Spirit now fulfills all essential safety and environmental requirements as they are defined in the European Directives
